About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness.

Salary: £63,000 - £94,400 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As Lead Safety, Health, Wellbeing (SHW) Manager, you'll be responsible for providing support, advice and guidance on all aspects of compliance, innovation and overarching requirements across the SSE Renewables Hydro business. You'll play a key role in supporting continuous improvement to SHW performance relating to SSE standards and our statutory responsibilities.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include:

  • Supporting the Hydro senior management teams in making sure we keep people, assets and the environment safe from harm by actively applying and promoting SHW policies and standards across the group.
  • Driving continued excellence in performance by working in collaboration with the different business teams around risk assessments, risk controls and investigations
  • Ensuring due diligence, SHW assessments, and audits of businesses, organisations and contractors are carried out.
  • Managing and driving your team to maximise performance and ensure our customer requirements are fulfilled.
  • Working closely with the Hydro business to deliver our behavioural safety requirements in line with our Safety Family Programme, ensuring that it is delivered in a clear and consistent way.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • A professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or other relevant safety focused qualification.
  • A registered membership of IOSH or equivalent accrediting body or be willing to work towards this.
  • Experience in Hydro generation, renewables or another high hazard industry.
  • Outstanding communication skills with a natural flair for forging strong relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of seniority.
  • The ability to work in a demanding environment and deliver affectively against challenging deadlines.
