Software Developer

Hourly Rate: £15.97 IT Allowance: Additional £3,700

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Software Developer to join a team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the future of scientific computing applications.

Main Duties:

  • Engage with internal & external stakeholders to gather system requirements, leading to the specification of projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation according to best practices, including software design specifications, test plans, and review reports.
  • Contribute to the design and development of relational databases in collaboration with the Database Administrator (DBA).
  • Provide end-user technical support, be an active member of the service desk team, and manage system change requests.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain scientific computing applications, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and performance.

Specific Experience / Qualifications Required:

  • A minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Computing, Software Engineering, or a related discipline with at least 50% computing content.
  • At least 1 year of commercial experience in systems analysis within the last three years, including:
  • Development of software solutions using the Microsoft .NET Framework or .NET Core.
  • Relational database design & development.
  • Testing and validating developed application code.
