Summary:

We are looking for a Commercial Analyst to join an organisation at the heart of energy regulation. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing a pricing capacity to optimise the value of the company's data, products, tools and capabilities in the energy and wider utilities market. The role involves targeting the right markets, segments and customers with the optimal price to secure sales, maximising revenue and profit for the company. To be successful in this role you will need a Finance/Economics or similar qualification, be highly analytical, an understanding of value-based pricing and ideally experience of understanding the role of data in the energy/utilities industry. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the companies data, tools, products and capabilities.
  • Establish a clear segmentation of the energy and wider utilities market.
  • Develop an understanding of the value of data to customers and establish a value-based pricing approach, methodology and policy.
  • Build an external network of capable and relevant professionals and academics.
  • Validate approach with market competitor analysis & assessment of strategies & methodologies.
  • Secure buy-in to the pricing approach from the SMT and key commercial stakeholders.
  • Work with Marketing and Engagement to enable effective communication to customers.
  • Contribute to the annual business strategy and plan.
  • Act as a business partner and critical friend to the business development team.

Skills and experience required:

  • Finance/Economics or similar qualification or qualified by experience.
  • Highly analytical and able to present outcomes effectively.
  • Value-based pricing understanding and ideally experience in the energy/utilities industry.
  • Understanding the role and value of data in the industry.
  • Able to manage multiple deliverables, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Establish effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Good Excel and data presentation skills.
