Senior Technical Officer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is a social housing provider based in London. Currently they are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Officer to join their team on a temporary contract.

The role requires a basic DBS and the ideal candidate will be RICS Qualified.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Lead and supervise local Technical Service Officers
  • Provide operational leadership for the damp and mould strategy, optimizing efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness
  • Act as a visible leader in health, safety, and quality, managing team direction while mitigating functional and business risks
  • Build and maintain an effective, motivated team for successful service delivery
  • Monitor and influence operational performance across damp and mould works, ensuring effective repairs management
  • Lead improvement plans when performance targets are not achieved
  • Supervise the handling of complaints regarding damp and mould
  • Co-develop policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Ensure service aligns with corporate objectives, delivery plans, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify work meets specifications for time, cost, and quality
  • Partner with appointed contractors and subcontractors to ensure a high-quality, continuously improving service
  • Support development of the cyclical program and monitor progress with staff, external colleagues, and service users
  • Supervise pre- and post-inspection surveys to identify potential or existing disrepair, damp, or mould issues, ensuring timely resolutions
  • Collaborate with other service leads to manage budgets and achieve value for money
  • Participate in developing, managing, and implementing corporate tasks related to risk and assurance, performance management, internal audits, and business improvements
  • Promote a culture of safety
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and approved codes of practice
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safe working methods in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Provide updated health and safety performance information and participate in regular meetings, reporting against KPIs as required
