Full-Time Youth Worker

Location: OL1 Area, Oldham

Salary: £23,500 - £24,179 per annum (full time / full year)

Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week

Our Oldham school is a special education provision for students ages 11-18 years with learning difficulties.

We currently have a vacancy for a Youth Worker who is resilient, energetic and highly motivated to join our busy team. The main duties will be to help to meet the needs of our service users by providing a range of support. The level of support will be based on the individual needs, some of whom have challenging behaviours.

Applicants must also be able to demonstrate that they are a proactive team member and have genuine empathy with students who have a range of learning and physical needs. They must also have the physical resilience to be able to support those service users with mobility issues.

Our mission is to empower young people, helping them to realise their full potential through engaging programs and initiatives. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team in the OL1 area.

As a Youth Worker, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality youth services, developing programs, and providing support to young people. You will work directly with the youth to foster personal development, social skills, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and deliver a range of activities and programs tailored to the needs of young people.
  • Build positive relationships with young people, providing mentorship and support.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and community organizations.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of outreach strategies to engage hard-to-reach youth.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with young people in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting young people in the Oldham area.
  • Ability to engage and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds.
