Wing Senior Design Engineer

The Wing Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading and delivering the structural design of wing components, ensuring compliance with program airworthiness, product requirements, and design quality assurance criteria.

This role will require strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a focus on efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design:

  • Ensure structural design meets program airworthiness and product requirements.
  • Adhere to cascaded Design Quality Assurance Criteria.
  • Define, deliver, and enable technical studies, trades, and investigations.
  • Utilize relevant Design methods and procedures to deliver technical solutions.

Change Management:

  • Support identification, management, and delivery of change through Mod opening, DFM release, and Stage 3 Closure of Mods.
  • Ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality change implementation.

Design Leadership:

  • Provide design leadership to internal and external designers within the team.
  • Own Lean Engineering improvements, focusing on "Right First Time" and Lead Time Reduction.
  • Demonstrate design requirements within program constraints.

Design Reviews:

  • Ensure effective organization and governance of design & maturity reviews.
  • Adhere to Airbus policies, processes, and practices.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of leading design or project teams, complex or multi-value projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve delivery to Time, Cost, and Quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions.
  • Experience in risk management and taking calculated risks.
  • Ability to make or influence decisions in a complex network of stakeholders and customers.
  • Proven ability to integrate with and influence technical experts and specialists.
  • Strong track record of maturing new technologies, implementing Design to cost projects, and initiating strategic technology projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of design toolsets, including CATIA V5, ICC, Zamiz, ECM, Solings, and PASS.
  • Design Authorisation Signatory is essential.

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, such as aerospace or automotive.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
