VAT Manager Opportunity

Are you a VAT specialist looking for something a bit different to your usual roles based within accountancy practice? Do you want to build a sustainable career that won't see you moving from client to client and will instead allow you to build long-standing relationships with people?

This is an excellent role for someone seeking a varied and challenging position in VAT where you can play a key role in enabling the team to meet the organisational tax compliance obligations. If you'd like the satisfaction of working in-house, collaborating and enjoying the benefits of longer-term working relationships, this opportunity is for you.

What's in it for you:

  • Generous holiday entitlement of Annual Leave of more than 40 days paid holiday every year including bank holidays
  • Work Life/Family Balance: A commitment to helping you achieve a work-life balance, including flexible working opportunities; generous family leave packages, including maternity, paternity, adoption/surrogacy and parental/partner leave; and childcare voucher scheme
  • Skills Development: Access to professional, personal and leadership development
  • Reward and Recognition: Competitive pay structures and reward policies
  • Discounts and Expense Schemes: Save on shopping, public transport, cycling, healthcare and financial services
  • A salary of c£47,000 - 57,000 depending upon relevant experience

What you'll be doing as VAT Manager:

  • Manage and oversee the VAT team, ensuring timely submission of quarterly VAT returns and annual adjustments
  • Work on addressing priority tax issues and maximising VAT recoveries
  • Provide technical tax support for major capital investments and international expansion
  • Lead VAT compliance audits and implement system/process changes to reflect new legislation
  • Design and implement a new VAT training strategy for staff across the organization

What you'll need to offer:

As an experienced tax professional, you would ideally bring an accountancy and/or tax qualification, but candidates with strong experience in VAT and tax would also be of great interest. You'll have:

  • Expertise in tax legislation and strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues at all levels
  • Experience of working within a large complex organization would be helpful, but is not essential
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing conflicting workloads and deadlines

This role offers an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development within a dynamic environment. If you're ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you.
