Posted by Connect Housing.

Salary 17,631 per annum actual (£31,065 FTE)

We're looking for two part time Housing Support Co-ordinators to join the North Kirklees Women's Refuge Team.

We have two 21-hour posts, one permanent and one temporary until February 2025, based at our Refuge accommodation.

At Connect we aim to do more than provide a place to live. We make people feel at home, transform lives, and build communities and the team play a critical role in this vision.

As a Housing Support Co-ordinator, you'll be making a positive difference to the lives of those who have experienced domestic abuse. No two days are the same and you will gain real job satisfaction from this work. On a day-to-day basis, you'll be assessing referrals, focusing on tenancy management, risk assessments and managing safeguarding concerns, using a multi-agency approach. You'll also be support planning with survivors and families, which will include discussions around suitable move on plans. Your time will be spent mainly working in the refuge accommodation with some community activity also included in the role.

To do well in this role you will need to be pro-active and solution-focused. If you don't have housing experience but have experience and knowledge of providing person-centred support to those who have experienced domestic abuse, we would still like to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can be;

  • Pro-active, resilient and driven to providing a first-class service
  • A confident decision maker who positively and assertively takes a solutions-focused approach to challenges
  • A trustworthy and values driven person who acts ethically and with integrity
  • A team player working collaboratively internally and externally whilst confident enough to work independently

Whilst no formal qualifications are required, applicants must demonstrate experience of:

  • Working with clients who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Working within guidelines and policy
  • Liaising and working with other agencies
  • Identifying and managing situations involving a level of risk.
  • The issues and the challenges faced by those experiencing domestic abuse.

The benefits on offer here at Connect Housing:

  • 26 days annual leave rising to 31 days after 5 years, plus bank holidays
  • Group pension scheme with up to 9% matched by Connect. Salary sacrifice also available.
  • BUPA Health Cash Plan. Get cash back for your dental, optical, podiatry treatment and much more, including cash back on your prescriptions.
  • Employee Assistance Programme: get free confidential advice and support 24/7, with free counselling sessions available too.
  • MyPlace benefits: retail discounts and offers
  • The opportunity to buy and sell annual leave
  • Training and development opportunities and support with role-related professional subscriptions and qualifications.
  • Travel season ticket loans
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Paid volunteering leave. As an equal opportunities employer we recruit based on experience, attitude and values. Connect are committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve and actively works to promote equality, diversity and inclusion. We encourage applicants from underrepresented groups to apply. We are proudly a Disability Confident employer.

In terms of work pattern, we tend to offer set days, but some occasional flexibility is desirable, to cover annual leave, other absences and emergency sign ups. The refuge office hours are between 8:30am and 6pm.

This role will require an enhanced DBS check. Due to the sensitive needs of our service users the postholder will need to be female. This is a genuine occupational requirement under The Equality Act.

Please read the attached combined job description and person specification document for more details and to help you with your application.

Closing date: 29 August 2024. Early applications are encouraged as we may close the role early depending on number/quality of applications.
