Primary Teacher (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to cover maternity leave at a special educational needs (SEN) school. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for teaching children with severe learning difficulties and autism. The successful candidate will have experience in using the Total Communication Approach and teaching children with high sensory needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Delivering tailored education plans to meet the individual needs of students with severe learning difficulties and autism.
- Implementing the Total Communication Approach to support students' understanding and expression.
- Creating a supportive and accessible learning environment that caters to high sensory needs.
- Collaborating with other staff members to plan and coordinate lessons.
- Regularly assessing and recording students' progress, adapting teaching methods to suit their needs.
- Engaging with parents and guardians to discuss their child's development and needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Proven SEN experience, particularly in teaching children with severe learning difficulties and autism.
- Familiarity with the Total Communication Approach.
- Experience in addressing high sensory needs in an educational setting.
- Strong commitment to inclusive education practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
