Social Worker - Children with Disabilities

Location: Oldham

Salary: £36,648 - £44,428 with a £2,000 retention payment

Job Type: Full-time, with hybrid working options

We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our team, focusing on children with disabilities. The role involves managing a caseload, undertaking assessments, developing Care & Support Plans, and promoting good practice in social work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to improve life opportunities for service users, carers, and families using social work methods and models, while continuing to develop professionally.

Day to Day of the role:

Prepare for social work contact, including reviewing case notes and liaising with others for additional information.

Undertake assessments of support needs and assist in screening referrals.

Develop, deliver, evaluate, and update Care & Support Plans to resolve social care, health, and well-being difficulties.

Work with service users to make informed choices and decisions.

Proactively address safeguarding issues following relevant policies and procedures.

Identify, assess, and manage risks, contributing to positive behavioural changes to reduce risk.

Respond to crisis situations with appropriate legal intervention.

Maintain high data quality on social care systems and ensure confidentiality.

Prepare for and participate in meetings, decision-making forums, and court appearances.

Advocate on behalf of service users within the boundaries of policies.

Develop and maintain working relationships with partnership agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Social Work degree or equivalent recognised qualification (e.g., DipSW).

Registration with HCPC.

Post Qualifying Award approved by HCPC (e.g., ASYE or newly qualified programme).

Experience in assessments and producing Care & Support Plans.

Ability to prioritise workload and maintain accurate case records.

Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Strong report writing skills for formal settings.

Negotiation skills and interpersonal skills to deal with conflict.

Proficient IT skills for record management systems.

In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines in social work.

Understanding of equalities and diversity issues.

Willingness to undertake additional learning and training.

Driving Licence or ability to travel independently across the Borough of Oldham.

Ability to work unsocial hours.
