This secondary school is a large, co-educational voluntary grammar school situated on 25 acres of beautiful grounds overlooking Belfast Lough. With 1,250 students, they take pride in their commitment to academic excellence and fostering a welcoming environment.

The Role

They are seeking a Biology Technician to join their secondary department. You will play a vital role in supporting them by preparing resources for practical lessons and maintaining the lab facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with teaching staff to prepare lesson materials in a timely manner
  • Assist in the development and creation of teaching aids and models
  • Set up, test, and demonstrate equipment for biology lessons
  • Maintain, clean, and organise tools, equipment, and materials in the lab
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment and ensure all items are in good working condition
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations are followed, including safe storage and disposal of materials
  • Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and chemicals

The Ideal Candidate:

You will be organised, safety-conscious, and a strong team player.

Essential:

  • 5 GCSEs (A* to C) including English, Maths, and a science subject
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures
  • Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • A Level or higher in Biology or related subject
  • Experience as a technician in an educational setting
  • Lab experience in preparing and storing resources
