About the Role:

Venn Group are recruiting for a Local Authority in South East England, seeking an experienced Construction Lawyer to join their legal team on a part-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to provide legal oversight and strategic guidance on a variety of significant infrastructure projects while managing relationships with external law firms and government bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Provide legal oversight for ongoing construction projects that have been outsourced to external law firms. Act as the primary liaison between the local authority and these firms, ensuring compliance with government requirements.
  • Contract Management: Manage a range of contracts related to infrastructure initiatives, ensuring that legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Contract Utilisation: Oversee the use of call-off contracts, ensuring they are effectively implemented in line with project needs.
  • Programme Support: Contribute to the local authority's infrastructure development programme by providing legal support and guidance on a variety of construction projects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Infrastructure to ensure all legal aspects of the authority's projects are managed effectively.

About You:

You are a highly experienced Construction Lawyer with a strong background in managing large-scale infrastructure projects. You should have:

  • Experience in Construction Law: Extensive experience in construction law, particularly in overseeing and managing large contracts and infrastructure projects. You will be confident managing JCT and NEC suites.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with external law firms, government bodies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work part-time, with flexibility in the number of hours worked per week (around 20 hours).
