General Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of our client to work in a beautiful venue within an amazing setting . The company you would be working for is a National Charity and they are looking for someone to join them on a Fixed Term contract basis for 3-6 months .

What you'll be doing:

This job is primarily about people with a considerable proportion of your time spent supporting your teams in their work and in building and maintaining the multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships that support and benefit the properties.

In addition, you will oversee the development and delivery of the property business plan, setting an exciting and ambitious vision for the future and translating that into project delivery, sustainable finances and fundraising plans, all of which helps to ensure that your properties are well cared for and maintained to the highest standards of conservation possible.

Who we're looking for:

This role will suit you if you love working with people and recognise the importance of listening, being inquisitive and valuing the diversity of thought that comes from working in partnership with communities.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader, comfortable managing visitor operations and the associated risks. With experience of developing external relationships, managing and/or overseeing projects and with a good grasp of cost management and financial planning you are a natural multi-tasker.

You will need to be resilient and have a strong sense of purpose, it isn't all tea and cake. Happy to work independently and as part of a team as the situation suits, someone who is flexible and willing to learn will thrive.

Our charitable purpose is to promote and preserve places of historic interest and natural beauty for the benefit of the nation. Whilst we don't necessarily need someone who is a deep expert it is important to have an empathy and interest in helping to share our beautiful and interesting places with the nation.

  • General Manager – Full-time 37.5hrs per week

  • Location : Morden

  • Start asap (immediate need)

  • Interim role – 3 – 6month opportunity flexibility to extend beyond 3 months

  • Salary Circa £55k pa

  • Weekend working on rota basis (1 weekend in 3)

  • Strong People leadership is critical

  • Agreeing objectives, motivating and supporting, regular follow up, team meetings.

  • Experience working in a busy operational environment

  • Hospitality, Leisure, Retail

  • Park/Grounds management experience desirable

  • Computer literate

  • Word, Excel

  • Experience of operational risk and compliance

  • IOSH or similar desirable

  • Comfortable/experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
