Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

We are currently seeking a Payroll & Benefits Advisor on behalf of our client, an international law firm with a strong presence in the legal sector. With a talented team based in London, our client is committed to delivering exceptional results for their clients and pushing boundaries in their field.

Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll and Benefits Advisor will be responsible for managing the end-to-end UK monthly payroll for approximately 260 employees. They will also serve as the first point of contact for all payroll and benefit queries, ensuring accurate payroll processing and collaborating closely with HR, Finance, and other internal departments. The Payroll & Benefits Advisor will have the opportunity to deputise in the absence of the Payroll & Benefits Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Process the UK monthly payroll by collecting variable data from multiple sources and conducting thorough checks for accuracy and approval.
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure processing accuracy and maintain data integrity between payroll and HR systems.
  • Update and maintain internal procedure manuals for payroll and benefits processes.
  • Ensure compliance with pension auto-enrolment regulations, advising staff on contribution levels and collaborating with the pension provider for contribution payments.
  • Administer and provide support for employee benefits in conjunction with HR.
  • Conduct payroll and benefit induction training for new joiners, including guidance on the UK tax system and employee benefits for non-UK nationals.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert and primary point of contact for all payroll, pension, and benefit queries from employees.
  • Manage the London Payroll email box and deliver prompt query handling.
  • Contribute to ad hoc project work as required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years' relevant payroll and benefits experience, ideally gained within the legal sector or professional services.
  • Previous experience using payroll software is essential, with knowledge of ADP iHCM 2 and ADP Real Time considered advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and data reporting skills, including proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., formulae, VLOOKUP's, pivot tables).
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant payroll legislation and pensions and auto-enrolment regulations.
  • Familiarity with tax implications related to expenses, relocation allowances, benefits, payroll salary sacrifice schemes, maternity/alabaster calculations, etc.
  • Gender Pay Gap reporting experience would be useful.
