Senior Finance Officer

Reed Accountancy in Oxford are excited to be partnering with a prestigious organisation based in Oxford to help source a Senior Grants Officer to join their finance function. This role has come about from someone becoming fully qualified and moving on after progressing within the role. The role offers a salary of up to £36,000 per annum, 30 days annual leave (plus bank holiday), excellent pension, flexible/hybrid working, discount schemes and other benefits. It is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in Accounts to join a structured environment and take on greater responsibility within the role.

Some of the responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Take responsibility for managing the post-award finances of a portfolio of research/trading projects, and where necessary to discuss procurement and recruitment plans in order to provide accurate forecasts.
  • Produce regular financial reports on their grants, and provide support and advice
  • Instigate regular reviews with PIs to discuss their projects' portfolio, highlighting issues and concerns, and offering creative solutions to any identified problems.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Funders' financial terms and conditions and ensure that they are adhere to.
  • Liaise with their counterparts in other departments as well as other Institutes
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as required by the Research Finance Manager.
  • Monitor the generic inbox alongside the other team members and ensure that queries are responded to
  • Provide input for the Overheads forecasting exercise by providing the Research Finance Manager with details
  • Ensure that expenditure on all grants is correct and timesheets are correctly filled in.
  • Take responsibility to produce quarterly reports and forecasts for Innovate UK grants liaising with Research Accounts and Project Managers as necessary
  • Liaise with Research Accounts to ensure invoices are raised in a timely manner and in accordance with funders' procedures.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a varied background in finance, and be capable working in a fast paced environment. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as this position requires communication with a number of different external and internal stakeholders. You will have advanced Excel skills (pivots, Macros, Vlookups etc) and ideally have worked on Oracle.
