This new position is with a global consultancy who have recently expanded into supporting niche but data-driven companies in growing their data capabilities. This is a great position if you are looking to not only expand your knowledge in data engineering but also in data science, BI, and Software Engineering, given the versatile nature of the role.
THE COMPANY
As mentioned, this consultancy operates on a global scale. Some of the clients you would therefore be working with are based overseas, not necessarily just in the UK. This group tends to focus on certain industries which include the energy sector, but they have since reached out to smaller, digital-first companies. All clients here are now hoping to improve their capabilities, and you will become a big part of this.
THE ROLE
The team looking to tackle the various projects is very Data Science heavy, and you would be working closely with the Software Engineering team also. You are therefore going to be the first Data Engineering hire. This gives you lots of autonomy in your decision-making, but it also gives an opportunity to upskill in areas including data quality and data governance. Overall, you will be helping on an end-to-end basis and engaging with clients when manufacturing their data capabilities.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Good experience with Python is needed
- Cloud exposure is needed
- It is a bonus if this is Azure
- Any experience with software engineering tools, such as Docker or Kubernetes, will be helpful
- Experience with a modern and broad tech stack
