In short: Physical Security / Security BA required to join a global energy provider in transition of a number of procedures and processes to build out a new Corporate Security function covering Physical Security elements.

Role Purpose

The Physical Security Business Analyst will work closely with the Physical Security Project Manager and the Head of Physical & Corporate Security, and the Corporate Security Manager, on the business Separation programme and it's Security projects, to translate the Physical Security work streams requirements and all support documents to achieve the deliverables, goals and outcomes and provided vital business analyst insight.

As the Business Analyst, you will work closely with business and programme stakeholders to understand their business, technology and process/procedural requirements and their processes and procedures, acting as an interface between the business Programme and the physical security organisation.

Management of relationships with the business/programme is key to delivering our physical security strategy. Whether it be implementing new solutions, driving operational effectiveness and efficiency, or providing guidance back to further enhance our strategy, the Physical/IT Business Analyst provides the requirements engagement and builds stakeholder relationships to enable the Programme and security organisation to deliver maximum value.

The role will be to gather business/technology/service requirements from various business and programme stakeholders and after analysing them from both functional and/or technical perspective, converting them into respective user stories / use cases for the project team and aligning them within the product backlog as per the priority assignment. Ensuring the secure design and secure implementation of technology solutions, platforms, processes and procedures, and infrastructure to support:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of our business strategies. Gain proficiency in underlying product/platform functions and leading technology capabilities
  • Develop business acumen to understand core business processes and desired outcomes
  • Work directly with the Project Manager & Product owner(s) to gather requirements, business process mapping, functional specifications, security guidelines etc.
  • Analysing its completeness from both functional and/or technical perspective after having proper discussions with various responsible stakeholders for the said requirement.
  • Creating proper epics, features and user stories (or use cases) with respect to the requirement in hand.
  • Reviewing the features / stories with both business and internal project team
  • Prioritising the features / user stories across various sprints
  • Conducting Backlog Refinement sessions to elaborate the user stories to the project team (development and testing) and working closely with the project team during the development and testing activities of the stories
  • Value add during Sprint - Review Sessions to show and tell the work done in the last sprint to the required project/business stakeholders
  • Updating / maintaining release documents (such as: release notes, user manuals, BLDs / FLDs etc.) and communication those to required stakeholders
  • Getting in touch with end-user to understand their pain-points and resolving their doubts with respect to upcoming features in UAT sessions.
  • Following up with dependent business teams to resolve any dependency for the project team with respect to the requirements in hand.
  • Understand the data and how business processes function within IT applications. Develop and maintain an understanding of interfacing applications.

Experience, Qualifications & Capabilities

  • Multiple end-to-end projects of experience in Physical Security and/or Information Technology role including experience in Physical Security and/or Corporate Secuirty business system analysis
  • Knowledge of Requirements Gathering process, creating features and user stories, backlog refinement process
  • Knowledge of Business documents (BLDs, FLDs etc.)
  • Knowledge of working in Agile methodologies and Scrum team
  • Knowledge on SDLC and STLC
  • Working knowledge on Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, Power-point
  • Basic knowledge about IT & Cyber Security terminologies
  • Basic understanding of security principles gained through experience or in an IT context
  • Experience in integrating IT Services with Security services and Operational services e.g., SLAs, Operational processes, Vendor relationships.
  • Strong written and spoken communication
  • Prepared to challenge and have the conversations where needed
  • Able to operate as efficiently as an independent worker and as part of a team
  • Prior Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) or utilities industry experience an advantage but not essential
  • IT based higher education an advantage but not essential
  • IT and or security certifications an advantage but not essential
