At Jackson Hogg we are pleased to be partnered with a highly regarded independent school in West Sussex to recruit for a school Bursar.
This is a rare opportunity that will see the successful applicant become a valued member of the senior management team which will help to drive and maintain the high standards and values that this school is already exceptionally well known for.
In consolidation with the Headmaster you will be preparing the School's Business Plans, presenting to the Governors and working with the Headmaster to implement the plans upon approval.
Key parts of the role include:
- Oversee all budgeting and financial management of the school including forecasting, monitoring and reporting of financial performance.
- Advising the Governors on the general financial policy
- Lead and support the operations team in day to day operations, providing support as needed.
- Arranging for the safety and security and effective maintenance of the assets of the School in accordance with the requirements of the Governors and, where applicable, the Charity Commissioners.
- In consultation with the Headmaster, the Bursar shall be responsible for formulating and implementing policy on and ensuring compliance with legislation in respect of employment legislation for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a School Business Manager role is desirable but experience in a similar position will be considered
- Proven track record of managing budgets of several million pounds
- Knowledge of the education sector and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the industry
- Experience of managing multiple teams across different departments
