Data Governance Analyst

My client, based in reading is recruiting for a Data Governance Analyst to support a long term transformation.

Length of Contract: 6- 12 months

Day rate: £350 - 450 per day depending on experience

Location: Reading - 2 days per week on site

The Data Governance Analyst will:

  • Contribute to the organisation's data governance strategy and implementation.
  • Support Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives by ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
  • Assist in data cataloguing and metadata management using tools like Azure Purview.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote data governance best practices.

The Data Governance Analyst's key responsibilities are:

  • Support the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders on data governance initiatives.
  • Assist in enforcing data governance policies and ensuring compliance.
  • Support MDM initiatives by ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to training and education on data governance and master data quality.
  • Assist in monitoring data governance compliance and assessing control effectiveness.
  • Support metadata management by documenting data lineage, definitions, and dependencies.
  • Contribute to data governance council meetings.
  • Assist in implementing the data governance framework.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in data management and governance.
  • Understanding of data governance concepts and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data quality and protection principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • SQL scripting and database management systems (e.g., SAP, SQL Server).
  • Data analysis and visualisation tools (e.g., Python, Power BI).
  • Data quality tools (e.g., MDM Profisee, Purview).
  • Understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Data Factory).
