Assistant Finance Manager

My client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to join their finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the financial health of the company, which has a turnover of £12-15 million and operates across three internal departments. This role is integral to maintaining and improving our financial processes and systems.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy of transactions.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash flow reporting and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and business strategy development.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Carry out purchase ledger duties and cover sales ledger when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, including tax obligations and audit requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between the finance team and other departments, providing financial support and guidance as needed.
  • Assist in the maintenance and optimization of financial systems and software to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Undertake special financial projects and analyses as assigned by the Financial Controller.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar finance role, preferably within a medium-sized enterprise.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Xero and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Dext and Approval Max is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
