Senior HR Advisor

They are adding to their HR team with an experienced Senior HR Advisor. This role offers a suitably experienced candidate the chance to join the business in a vitally important role at a pivotal time in its growth plans.

With responsibility day to day for supporting line managers in their employee relations, the successful candidate will also have ownership of the recruitment process, bringing in and assessing new talent effectively, whilst remaining focused on retention and succession planning.

Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team team with policy-related queries, providing HR advice and guidance based on UK Employment Law
  • Supporting the on-site management teams, acting as Company witness, notetaker and advisor, as well as employee advocate; ensuring all policies are upheld and consistency is applied to ER cases.
  • Providing practical support to the Management team for the end-to-end employee lifecycle
  • Taking ownership of the recruitment process:-

o Agreeing on vacancy specs with line managers

o Planning the most appropriate talent attraction for each individual role

o Advising on a clear selection process for each role alongside the HR Manager and line managers

o Liaising with agency partner where appropriate

o Sifting and selecting a shortlist alongside line managers

o Arranging interviews and setting out guidelines for the relevant assessment of candidates

o Conducting interviews and assessments

o Ensuring a robust offer and onboarding process for new employees

o Creating employment contracts

o Ensuring due diligence and compliance for any new starters, with the support of the HR Administrator

o Ensuring support and clear plans are in place for new starters, working closely with line managers.

  • Taking ownership of succession planning and talent management strategies for the business.
  • Coordinating attendance management procedures including Return to Work documentation for line managers, dealing with escalation of any attendance-related issues.
  • Updating HR policies in line with Company and Statutory changes - taking ownership of producing any new policies and company initiatives.
  • Supporting the HR Manager in change management initiatives, including participation in consultation, collation and documentation of consultation meetings and enacting final changes as required in Company systems
  • Primary system owner for the T&A, HRIS and LMS - including development of the system, project work, and maintaining GDPR compliance.
  • Coordinating Occupational Health activities including appointment bookings, referrals, report reviews, and escalation where appropriate, including DSE assessments.
  • Working with the HR Manager to co-ordinate tasks / documentation associated with Union relations, negotiations and any subsequent agreements.

To be successful in your application for the Senior HR Advisor role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience at HR Advisor level or above
  • Ideally experience providing advice in a fast-paced manufacturing, engineering, automotive, construction or similar sector.
  • Excellent up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and a desire to develop that knowledge on an ongoing basis; a real interest in HR-related topics that bring insight to future company policies and updates.
  • Ability to and evidence of working cross-functionally with line managers and Senior Leadership from a HR perspective
  • Strong communication skills and a confident manner - able to work productively and build relationships at all levels within the business.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to suggest improvements to systems - Time & Attendance, HR data reporting, MS Office Packages etc.
  • Resilience, a high drive for success, and excellent attention to detail.
