SEN Teaching Assistant

Posted by Asend Limited.

ASEND supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don't have a school place. We are looking for a supportive and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant who can help make a positive impact on a pupil with Mental Health needs in Uxbridge.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for wonderful Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with SEND in Hillingdon. We support pupils with SEND who may not be attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school. Our Teaching Assistants also work within schools supporting pupils who need that tailored support.

We support pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our work is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of people to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each person with pupils and roles who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil and role

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join an experienced tutor in delivering lessons to support a 13-year-old girl in Uxbridge with developing boundaries and help re-engage in learning. Our pupil has a diagnosis of Autism, some difficulty with speech and language and struggles with mental health, which can make it challenging for her to engage with others and make learning difficult. This does not hold her back from finding joy in her hobbies and interests which include singing, horror movies and playing Roblox. We would love to find someone who would be able to incorporate her interests to help her engage with her education. She is a resilient young person who has made a lot of progress in terms of communication and in her education, and we're looking for someone who could improve this further and support her along the journey.

The ideal candidate needs to be someone who is empathetic and understanding, as she has been through a lot and will need a sensitive TA. Someone who has experience with emotional and sensory regulation would also be a bonus.
