SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Salary: £23,000 per annum
  • Location: Guildford
  • Job Type: Part-time (3 or 4 days per week, including Tuesday)

We are looking for caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our outstanding team at an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding' school. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about special education needs (SEN) to work with autistic children aged 4-19. Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide individualised support and teaching to pupils, following tailored curriculums.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and activities with a focus on communication skills and life skills.
  • Support pupil participation in trips, applying theoretical learning in practical settings.
  • Offer behaviourally based support to replace and reduce behaviours that impact quality of life.
  • Provide personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene.
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching methods to meet each child's needs.
  • Assist with breaktime duties, including playground support and snack time.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with children and disabilities.
  • Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour.
  • Willing to support others with personal/intimate care as required.
  • Ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
