Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced Finance Senior to join a company based in Salford, Manchester as a Deputy Head of Finance.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance you will manage the Business Partnering team in providing comprehensive, high quality financial support and information to budget managers throughout the year, including during budget setting, the production of the monthly management accounts and quarterly forecasts, and financial year-end.

Be a key player in the production of the monthly management accounts, reported to key stakeholders, and in the production of the annual statement of accounts, including liaising with External Audit.

Duties

  • Preparation of Statutory Financial statements and working papers
  • Financial reporting
  • Ensure that detailed financial year-end procedures are in place and communicated to all budget managers in a pro-active and timely manner, ensuring they are completed accurately and in accordance with the timetable
  • Support the Head of Finance in maintaining and completing a detailed financial model that records and reports ratios and metrics on a monthly basis, for onward reporting to key stakeholders
  • Oversee the production of the draft monthly management accounts and quarterly forecast, ensuring that accurate and detailed monitoring mechanisms are in place for both income and expenditure so that variances can be highlighted and explained at an early stage, to enable appropriate action to be taken
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and medium-term financial plan for the business

Experience/Knowledge

You will be CCAB (ICAEW / ACCA / CIPFA) or CIMA qualified, with significant and recent experience of providing a financial management service, ideally in the education (e.g., FE, HE, MAT), public or third sector. However, relevant experience from all sectors, along with an appreciation of the challenges faced in the FE sector, are also welcomed.

You will have a strong background in management accounting, but also have proven technical financial accounting skills, and a track record of being a hands-on and effective manager. Experience in the production of the annual statutory accounts and liaising with external audit is desirable

Personal Qualities

You will demonstrate outstanding communication, organisational and managerial skills, and be strongly committed to working with the company values and ethos. You must demonstrate the ability to lead a comprehensive financial management service and team, and advise on financial matters affecting the business. You will have considerable drive, a proactive can-do attitude, and be positive about change and innovation, and be able to drive forward system and process improvements.
