Industrial Electrician

Overview of the Company

The Woodshack Limited (trading as Calshot) is a bespoke restoration business located at James' Wharf in Southampton. We have been responsible for crafting, restoring, and repurposing an array of historical and vintage items. All works, including the construction of artisan furniture or restoration of vehicles and vessels, are completed on site in a way that honours tradition, craftsmanship and quality. As a Group we are continually developing and work in a truly unique environment. The business is currently undertaking a number of significant capital projects including re-building of workshops and new offices and improving Southampton's last remaining working dry dock.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial and commercial environments.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, ensuring timely repairs in line with safety standards.
  • Work on electrical control systems, motors, lighting, wiring and switchgear installations.
  • Ensure compliance with UK electrical regulations (BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations) and health & safety legislation.
  • Carry out periodic testing and inspections of electrical systems and complete necessary certification.
  • Collaborate with other trades and contractors on larger projects, including refurbishment and new build developments.
  • Attend client sites to perform electrical maintenance and emergency repairs.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition (BS 7671) certification required.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical work.
  • City and Guild 2391.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid UK driving licence (required).
  • Ability to work off-site/away from home.
