CASS Manager

We are looking to hire an experienced Client Asset (CASS) Manager to lead our team in London.

  • ** Please note that this is an onsite role that would require you to work in the London office (near Liverpool Street) 5 days per week. ***

Reporting to the Group Head of Client Asset Management, you will be the CMC Markets CASS specialist with the role comprising of;

  • Management of the Client Asset Team in the UK, which also provides some services to Group entities in other jurisdictions.
  • Ensuring the firm is in compliance with its obligations under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Client Asset Money regime (CASS) and similar regulations imposed by other regulators where we have overseas subsidiaries.
  • The role holder will be expected to assume the Controlled Function responsibilities for CASS and work alongside the SMF
  • Assists in the day to day management of client assets throughout the group.
  • Assists with the annual CASS audit and liaise with the auditor, manages the audit process and helps in agreeing the approach to remediation of audit issues found
  • Assists in the interpretation of the CASS requirements with respect to new Investment products and services the Group develops.
  • This position requires someone with an in-depth knowledge of the CASS requirements and how they impact operational processes and controls.
  • This position will work very closely with the Compliance, Business Intelligence and Operations teams to ensure robust CASS controls are in place for all the asset and cash activity during the investment life cycle within all of our products.
  • This is a key control function in the heavily regulated CASS environment helping to ensure we deliver on one of the FCA's key principles - arranging adequate protection for clients' assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out CASS impact assessment on new products and deliver solutions
  • The Client Asset Manager will take a "hands-on" approach on implementation of CASS processes and taking ownership of accurate completion of various CASS reconciliations.
  • The Client Asset Manager will have responsibility for identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Horizon scanning to identify future changes to regulation that impact client money & assets.
  • Reporting & Analysis of Daily Client Asset Activity.
  • Funding client money accounts & managing Counterparty exposures in line with Policy.
  • Preparing Monthly Qualitative and Quantitative Board Updates.
  • Assisting in generating and maintaining CASS policies.
  • Dealing with Client Asset queries from within the Group.
  • The Client Asset Manager will assist in the preparation of Client Money Asset Returns (CMAR) reporting.
  • Work with other teams throughout the organisation to ensure their processes which impact client money are adequate and effective in protecting client assets.
  • Assist in the annual external Client Money Audits.
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • The Client Asset Manager must have detailed understanding of CASS rules, specifically CASS 6, 7 & 8
  • Experience of managing a team and developing Team Members
  • Prior working experience in a CASS function at an investment management firm
  • Good working knowledge of financial markets and related products, ability to identify, analyse and resolve complex issues working to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of operational cash management and reconciliations.
  • IT competent, particularly MS Office (Advanced Excel and Word)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Confident communicator
  • Good understanding of accounting and reconciliations.
  • Autorek user/implementation experience desired
