Bennett and Game are currently working with a leading structural steel fabrication and construction company based in Scotland. They are a family run business that has been operating in since 1992 and has continued to go from strength to strength. Due to this continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Structural Steel Estimator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and negotiate tender submissions for steelwork projects.
- Review incoming tenders, assessing scope of work, risks, and contract potential.
- Perform quantity take-offs from drawings using 3D modelling software or manual methods.
- Identify cost-effective or alternative solutions.
- Input data into estimating software.
- Source and analyse pre-project information, including sub-contractor quotations and agreements.
- Develop tender prices from first principles, considering the scope of works, plans, specifications, and programme.
- Undertake cost planning and produce Bills of Quantities.
- Prepare tender reports for adjudication.
- Compile letters of offer and supporting documentation.
- Present offers to clients.
- Attend pre- and post-contract interviews and client meetings.
- Collect and distribute feedback.
- Stay updated on the latest techniques.
- Assist in developing skills within the department.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in estimating within the Structural Steelwork industry is desirable but not essential.
- Strong team player with effective communication skills across all levels of staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
- Highly organized with the ability to meet strict deadlines consistently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Microsoft Project or other project programming software is ideal.
