The ideal candidate would have worked within the transport industry before.

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to guide the development of data-driven solutions within an agile environment. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, prioritizing requirements, and ensuring products are delivered effectively and efficiently.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Agile Development: Comprehensive understanding of Scrum and agile principles, with a proactive approach to learning and adaptation.
  • Data Management Expertise: Strong working knowledge of business intelligence, data warehousing, data modeling, and big data practices (essential).
  • Software Development Insight: Hands-on experience in software development and delivery processes.
  • Qualifications: Product Ownership certification is an advantage, alongside a relevant degree in technology, computer science, or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Agile Tool: Proficiency in agile planning, backlog, and tracking tools (e.g., Team Foundation Server).
  • Legislative Awareness: Familiarity with pertinent national and international legislation in the Government/Public Sector IT domain, including the Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives, and the Freedom of Information Act, with a strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements in customer information processing.

Skills Requirements:

  • Collaborative Problem-Solver: Able to address and communicate issues effectively within teams, applying technical knowledge collaboratively.
  • Influential Team Player: Capable of influencing both team members and specialist peers, as well as business stakeholders, particularly in setting priorities and acceptance criteria that impact project success.
  • Effective Multi-Tasker: Adept at managing multiple complex activities such as requirements gathering, interviewing, backlog refinement, prioritization, and acceptance management.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders and explain business value to technical audiences.
  • Systems Analysis Proficiency: Skilled in systems analysis essential for data warehouse and analytics solution construction.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven Product Ownership: Substantial experience in a Product Owner or Product Manager role within an agile development team.
  • Product Delivery: Successful track record in delivering products within categories similar to TfL offerings.
  • Adaptability in Dynamic Environments: Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deliver high-quality results within time and budget constraints.
  • Public Transport Sector Experience: Knowledge of the public transport industry (both operational and non-operational) is desirable.
  • Requirements Management: Extensive experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation, ideally within a data warehousing context involving data manipulation and reporting.

This role is suited to a driven Product Owner with strong data management knowledge and a commitment to agile delivery, capable of steering products that deliver real business value.
