We are seeking a dedicated Senior Pensions Officer to join us on an interim basis to work collaboratively with the Payroll Lead, ensuring the effective delivery of all pensions processes, producing statutory returns, and maintaining compliance with statutory regulations. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in pensions administration and a desire to support system developments using MHR iTrent and Pension Scheme systems.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Collaborate with the Payroll Lead to deliver effective pensions processes and statutory returns.
  • Provide support, guidance, and technical advice to Pension Officers and stakeholders.
  • Support system developments for Payroll and Pension objectives.
  • Process pension work requests accurately and within defined timescales.
  • Ensure accurate and timely notifications to various pension funds.
  • Facilitate the production of annual returns and assist with year-end preparations.
  • Contribute to service effectiveness through training and development initiatives.
  • Liaise with customers to resolve pension queries and ensure effective payroll preparation.
  • Maintain and archive pensions data and records in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Manage pension team activities to meet legislative and organisational deadlines.
  • Provide input into design and implementation projects for system changes.
  • Support internal and external audits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • CIPP qualification or willingness to achieve it within 12 months.
  • Experience in pensions administration within a large organisation.
  • Proficiency in accurate data input, checking, and verifying.
  • Experience with Altair and other pension systems and technologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Analytical skills with experience in reporting findings.
  • Knowledge of pension legislation and efficient pension service operations.
  • Familiarity with Local Government Pension Scheme, Teachers' Pensions Scheme, NHS Pension Scheme, and NEST Pension Scheme.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
