Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Macclesfield

Salary: £85-£95 per day

Start: ASAP

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a SEMH Teaching Assistant at our Special Needs School in Macclesfield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes social and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to address the unique needs of each student.
  • Support students in developing effective communication and social skills.
  • Manage challenging behaviours through positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Encourage and facilitate engagement in classroom activities and learning.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special education are advantageous.
