Who are Ambient Support?

Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years' experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with a mental health needs and people with learning disabilities.

Our service in Bromley is looking for a committed and empathetic Deputy Manager, to support in our 10 bed Respite centre for people with complex learning and physical disability needs.

Key responsibilities of our Deputy Manager :

  • To ensure that infection control standards are maintained.
  • To support all staff with care and support based decisions, thereby aiding their professional development
  • To ensure that all staff receive regular supervision, are annually appraised, and provided with a personal development plan.
  • To be responsible for monitoring the staff rota, ensuring that annual leave, training, and sickness cover is provided in the most cost-effective way.
  • To share with the Home Manager the responsibility for monitoring broad aspects of the management of the home including the supervision and training of care staff.
  • To Assist the Manager with the recruitment and deployment of staff with an awareness of Registration requirements.
  • To take responsibility for the implementation of Ambient's medication policies and procedures in the care facility.
  • Broad range of care skills for people with ages ranging from 18-80 who attend Respite for short periods of time
  • Activities for people with ages from 18-80 who may also attend our Day Care centre.

Skills and attributes of our Deputy Manager:

  • At least one year's experience at team leader or management level, preferably in a care home setting.
  • Relevant current care experience.
  • Experience of supervising, training, and mentoring staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Health & Social Care Act 2008 and CQC Fundamental Standards.
  • Competent approach to budgets, petty cash procedures.
  • Ability to complete and check monitoring sheets, devise rota's.
  • Broad range of care skills for older people living in residential care.
  • Activities for older people in care.
  • Basic current Health and Safety law including food hygiene and manual handling.
  • Able to manage difficult situations effectively.
  • Able to priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to use own initiative.
