Position Overview
Moonrise are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join their team at head office in Stockton on Tees in this groundbreaking role. This is the first senior HR position of its kind within the organisation, presenting a unique opportunity to shape and develop the HR function from the ground up. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on HR practitioner with a proven track record of establishing robust HR processes and policies in a fast growing organisation. With the support of 2 HR administrators, the successful candidate will be tasked with the design and implementation of a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with Moonrise's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Retention
- Create and implement effective safer recruitment strategies to attract diverse, qualified healthcare candidates.
- Improve and oversee the full hiring process, including job postings, interviews, and onboarding process for new starters.
- Develop retention strategies to maintain a skilled workforce to service clients.
Policy and Procedure Creation
- Review and update all necessary HR policies and procedures
- Ensure all policies comply with current employment law and sector-specific regulations
- Create an employee handbook and other essential HR documentation
Training and Development
- Collaborate with the in-house training department to ensure the comprehensive employee development program is running smoothly and and meets the criteria for industry standards
- Implement career progression pathways and succession planning
- Identify any organisational training needs and source appropriate learning solutions
Performance Management
- Manage the welfare checks and staff wellbeing meetings
- Design and implement a robust performance management system
- Train managers on effective performance management techniques
- Oversee the execution of regular performance reviews
Employee Relations and Culture
- Establish effective employee communication channels
- Manage complex employee relations issues and disciplinary procedures
- Champion diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with employment laws and care sector regulations
- Oversee the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check process
- Conduct regular HR audits to identify and mitigate risks
HR Analytics and Reporting
- Implement HR information systems and analytics tools
- Develop meaningful HR metrics and KPIs
- Produce regular reports to inform strategic decision-making
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- CIPD qualification (level 5 or above preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a senior HR role
- Proven experience in setting up HR functions, processes, and policies from scratch
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices in the care sector
- Experience with implementing HR information systems and data analysis tools
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
