SEN Teaching Assistant - Wolverhampton

Prospero Teaching are working with a SEND setting based in Wolverhampton who are dedicated to fostering an inspiring and supportive learning environment for all pupils with SEND.

The school focus on creating pathways for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally and are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team.

Role Summary:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your role will be to supporting SEND pupils to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with experienced teaching staff and specialist educators who will support you in your role.

You will need to have experience working with pupils with that have Autism, Social, emotional and mental health and other barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to SEND pupils with Autism, social, emotional and mental health and other barriers to learning.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater for diverse learning styles.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and track individual student progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and independence.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and external professionals to support student outcomes.

What You will need:

  • A minimum of 6 months working in the UK
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, experience working with children or adults with SEND, experience in support work or psychology.
  • Strong empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by SEND students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • A willingness to participate in professional development and ongoing training.
