A specialist special needs school for secondary pupils in Hackney is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join them in September. This is a small, well-resourced school which focuses on supporting students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and provides excellent support and development opportunities for staff and students alike.
Role Overview: As a SEND Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering tailored education to students with autism, helping them achieve their potential in a supportive and inclusive environment. You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to fostering student independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver effective lessons that meet the individual needs outlined in each student's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Conduct assessments and track the progress of students, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in your care, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to maximize student outcomes.
- Promote student independence and well-being, fostering a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an overseas teaching certificate recognized by NARIC.
- Experience working with students with SEND in either mainstream or specialist settings.
- An existing DBS check registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a new check
- Experience with PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method, or other augmentative and alternative communication approaches is advantageous but not essential.
