Role Overview:
As a Finance Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the finance department, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Posting supplier invoices, reconciling statements, and arranging payments
  • Handling fee invoices, credit notes, and disbursement write-offs
  • Monitoring and authorising payments to clients and other parties
  • Conducting various reconciliations and posting between bank accounts
  • Managing credit control and pursuing unbilled disbursements
  • Supervising the Finance Assistant and providing necessary training
  • Assisting the Finance Director and handling special finance projects
  • Generating performance reports and ensuring compliance with firm policies and SRA rules

What You Bring:
The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, and possess a positive work ethic. Previous experience in a finance role, particularly within the legal profession, is highly desirable. Familiarity with SRA accounts rules is preferred but not essential.
Key Skills and Experience:

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to meet finance system deadlines
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly with accounts software and Excel
  • Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented with a focus on continuous departmental improvement
  • Ability to identify unusual results, risk events, and associated reporting obligations
