Children's Residential Support Worker

Location: Handsworth
Service Type: 4-Bed Residential Home - Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
Salary: £23,800 - £26,950 per annum (dependent on experience)
Additional Pay: £50 per sleep-in
Rota Pattern: 1 long day on (07:30 - 23:00) followed by a sleep-in and 2 days off
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Driving Requirement: Must hold a full UK manual driving licence

We are supporting our client in the recruitment of a Children's Residential Support Worker for their well-established 4-bed EBD service based in Handsworth. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and supportive team committed to transforming the lives of children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

The Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be part of a team providing consistent, structured, and nurturing care. Your focus will be on building trusting relationships, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe, supportive home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people
  • Support with routines, educational needs, and recreational activities
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
  • Work as part of a team to deliver high standards of care and safeguarding
  • Drive young people to appointments, school, and activities (company vehicle provided)

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people (residential or similar setting preferred)
  • A child-centred, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Flexibility to work the set rota pattern including sleep-ins
  • Full UK manual driving licence (essential)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
