We are seeking a dedicated Housing Solutions Officer to join our Private Rented Solutions Team within Sheffield City Council. This role is crucial in working with landlords to secure quality private sector housing, helping hundreds of people establish long-lasting tenancies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of individuals, including ex-offenders, by preventing homelessness and supporting them through the housing process.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work on our Restart Service to support ex-offenders in finding and maintaining private rented tenancies.
- Prevent homelessness, hospital admissions, and delayed discharges from various supported and institutional accommodations.
- Provide positive outcomes for clients using a full range of options and empowering them where possible.
- Collect and interpret information relating to applications from various sources.
- Support clients through the Council's Lettings Policy, including assistance with the bidding process.
- Liaise with other statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
- Respond to telephone, mail, and electronic enquiries efficiently and professionally.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven customer service skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Understanding of, or experience working with, people facing homelessness.
- Ability to pass a DBS check.
