Management Accountant (Part-Time)

  • Salary Band: £35,000 to £42,000 (pro-rata for 0.6 to 0.6857 FTE)
  • Location: Ambleside, with some homeworking
  • Job Type: Permanent, Part-time (21 to 24 hours per week)

We are looking for a strong Management Accountant to oversee my clients accounting function and financial procedures. This role is integral to their organisation, as you will be preparing management accounts, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring compliance with legal, accounting, regulatory, and taxation obligations, and assisting senior leaders in making critical business decisions.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the budget preparation in collaboration with colleagues, aligning it with organisational business plans.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, forecast outturns, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Interrogate financial information and meet regularly with budget holders to discuss income and expenditure.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Manage payroll, ensuring accurate payment and reporting of employee benefits.
  • Oversee daily operation of bank accounts, manage cash flow, and ensure strong invoicing and credit control procedures.
  • Review and improve finance processes and systems for efficiency and decision making.
  • Develop financial procedures and policies, ensuring adherence to financial controls.
  • Provide analysis and support to other managers to aid decision making and ensure best value for the organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience managing financial ledgers, systems, and processes.
  • Proficient in preparing management accounts and budgets.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, and adept at managing large data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to improve and find efficiencies.
  • Honesty, professionalism, and discretion.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Sage and other accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of charity sector accounting.
  • People management skills and experience.

Education and Qualification:

  • Qualified by Experience (QBE) in a relevant field.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualification or equivalent is desirable.
