Energy Operations Director

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated energy specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the development and implementation of the management of electrical energy across the ecosystem, its technology and programmes. They will be enthusiastically driven to build a world-leading team.

Responsibilities

Sales of Electrical Power

  • Manage the sales and purchase of electricity across the marketplace.
  • Manage relationships between the company and established grid providers
  • Arrange pricing structure and implement disposal and sale of electrical power to third party providers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, industry practices.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and documentation.
  • Stay updated on future changes in applicable laws and regulations.

Trading Electrical Power

  • Scope and implement opportunities for purchase and sales of generated electricity, both from internal Group company facilities and external market sources.
  • Given the company's active acquisition of power stations in Romania, Greece, Spain, Italy and the UK with total generated power of 1.8 GW, managing the excess power and trading it onto international markets.
  • Build forecasts based on trading opportunities.
  • Monitor and processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyse data, and prepare reports on performance metrics.
  • Use data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential operational and financial risks.

Operational Team Management

  • Put together a standalone team to manage the entire project as a distinct company
  • Oversee all daily operations with the team.

VPS Setup

  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices within the energy operations.
  • Collaborate, initiate relationships and manage the formation and implementation of a 'virtual power station'.
  • The AI-driven software will provide information and full control of all flows of electricity across the Group, its associated value and funds.
  • Collaborate with third parties, software engineers, internal resources to lead the project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in energy operations, specifically in the electrical energy sector.
  • Proven experience in building and managing teams.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, trading and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven energy management software and virtual power stations.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and develop strategic plans based on findings.
  • Experience in compliance and regulatory reporting.
