Role Purpose

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced National Account Manager with a strong track record in wholesale and commercial trading. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and maintain national accounts, requiring travel across the UK and overseas to manage customer and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Development: Build and maintain customer relationships, ensuring achievement of sector targets in terms of volume and profitability.
  • Business Expansion: Lead and contribute to winning new customer accounts while defending existing accounts through strong relationship management.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate to develop and implement a business growth plan for your assigned territory.
  • Sales & Marketing: Work closely with the Business Development team to create promotional material tailored to specific accounts.
  • Financial Control: Manage financial aspects within your designated budget, ensuring profitability.
  • Tender & Pricing Management: Assist in tender submissions and maintain a competitive pricing structure.
  • Credit Management: Liaise with the Credit Control department to assess the creditworthiness of prospective customers.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, legal, and company policy guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with a solid background in profitable sales delivery within established and emerging markets. Experience in wholesale and commercial trading and a thorough understanding of the Fresh & Frozen Poultry sector is essential.

Person Specification

  • Proven success in achieving profitable sales within wholesale and commercial markets.
  • Extensive knowledge of the poultry industry.
  • Strong ability to identify customer needs and maximise sales opportunities.
  • Skilled in interpreting and acting on financial data.
  • Proficient in IT and numeracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal (face-to-face and via telephone) and written.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a focus on prioritising workloads.
  • Capable of inspiring and engaging with customers and colleagues.
  • An existing portfolio of wholesale and commercial trading clients is highly desirable.
