We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Shift Engineer to join our clients team at a critical banking site in Central London. This position involves supporting project-related works, conducting general maintenance tasks, and a blend of administrative, managerial, and hands-on responsibilities.
The site serves as the headquarters for one of the UK's leading financial institutions. Situated in the heart of London's financial district, this modern office building is a key hub for the bank's operations, hosting a range of critical functions essential to the bank's services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:

Oversee project-related works such as electrical isolations, fan coil replacements, chiller replacements, pipework modifications, new electrical distribution board replacements, valve installations, BMS upgrades, and pump panels.

Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Permit and Safety Management:
-
Review and approve Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs).

Issue appropriate permits for electrical, mechanical, and confined spaces work.

Conduct risk assessments and ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Contractor Coordination:
-
Manage and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring adherence to SSoWs and project specifications.

Escort contractors on-site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
- Quality Assurance and Maintenance:

Review completed works to ensure they meet the required standards and specifications.

Conduct general maintenance tasks including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance.
- Administrative Duties:

Perform administrative tasks including reporting, documentation, and record-keeping.

Maintain accurate and detailed project files and logs.
- Client Interaction:

Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing project updates and addressing concerns.

Foster positive relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction with project outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering with hands-on experience, including general maintenance tasks.
- Administrative Skills: Proficiency in administrative tasks, including permit issuing, report writing, and documentation.
- Leadership Ability: Proven experience or strong desire to step into a leadership role, managing subcontractors and overseeing project execution.
- Communication Skills: Excellent client-facing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing SSoWs, permits, risk assessments, and completed works to ensure compliance and quality.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Qualified to City & Guilds level 3 (or equivalent) in either electrical or mechanical engineering
- Previous experience in a critical environment such as banking or finance is advantageous.
- Familiarity with continental shift patterns and the ability to adapt to a demanding schedule.
- Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems) and other technical systems used in critical environments.
Package:
- Competitive salary of £47,000 - £50,000.
