Coventry City Council are urgently looking to recruit 2 qualified experienced Social work - Team Managers to join their Help and Protection team. This is a great opportunity for someone that wants to develop their skills and who are committed to achieving the best for the people of Coventry.

Your new role
As a member of the Children's Services Management team, to take responsibility for the management and delivery of an effective and efficient service for children, young people and their families. To assist the Operational Lead with the delivery of a professional service, through providing professional supervision. Adhere to the Social Work England code of practice for social workers.To be responsible for the effective provision of services delivered from, and commissioned by a Children's Social Care Team. To Manage Social Care Staff and ensure assessments are completed within timescales and cases are progressed appropriately. Ensuring services provided, are in accordance with the Children Act 1989,2004, Inter-agency Child Protection guidelines and Departmental procedures and expectations.You will work closely with professionals from a range of agencies including health, education and social care, police and youth offending services, in order to improve lived experiences for children. This role will pay up to £41.42 per hour depending on experience and a 3-month rolling contract. JD is available upon request.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will require a Social Work qualification (BA Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, CSS or CCETSW approved equivalent). It is also essential that you have a current professional registration (SWE) and have experience working as a Team Manager within Children's services.

  • Demonstrate effective management of a professional team of Social Workers
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a good understanding of the 'Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families' and develop strategies to meet the needs of children looked after.
  • Demonstrate management of Budgets and Financial Control Systems
  • Have an understanding of SURFACS and other relevant electronic systems and the importance of the accuracy of the data being input into this system
  • Demonstrate experience of chairing meetings and promote multi-agency working
  • Experience of performance Management and supervising staff who hold complex cases of Child in Need, Child Protection and Children who are Looked after
  • Ability to investigate complaints and manage grievance and disciplinary matters
  • This post requires Enhanced DBS and Children's Barred List check.
