Senior Bookkeeper

Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for accuracy. The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business and providing timely and accurate financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record Maintenance:

  • Maintain and update accurate financial records for the organisation, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll processing supported by the outsourced payroll department.
  • Reconcile financial accounts, bank balances and processing the VAT information.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and documented in accordance with management accounts.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyse financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Generate financial reports for management to support strategic decision-making.

Budget Management:

  • Assist in the development and management of the organisation's budget.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide explanations for significant discrepancies.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficient accounting procedures.
  • Streamline financial processes to enhance accuracy and productivity, ensuring compliance with accounting practices.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Bookkeeper
  • AAT level 3 or above desirable
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Sage50 or Xero) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
