Temporary Academic Office Manager

Do you have exceptional interpersonal skills, including a high level of proficiency in written and verbal communication? Have you worked within the Oxford University network, within an academic office?

If so, we have just registered this great role, working on a temporary basis in an impressive educational establishment in Central Oxford.

You will be working 35 hours a week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with an occasional Saturday for which time off in lieu will be given

Please note, this is a temporary position paid on a weekly PAYE basis. This role will start quickly, so sadly candidates with a lengthy notice period cannot be considered.

Temporary Academic Office Manager Responsibilities

In this role, you will be taking the lead in providing the administrative support needed for the successful running of the academic activities of the organisation. This will include:

  • Management of the day-to-day work of the Academic Office
  • Oversight of the arrangements for Degree Ceremonies
  • Administration of examinations, assessment and other teaching arrangements
  • Supporting students facing challenges and difficulties
  • Administration and oversight of digital student records
  • Liaison with the Accounts Office on matters relating to teaching
  • Monitoring and overseeing the handling of email, telephone and in-person enquiries
  • Deputising for the Academic Registrar as required.

Temporary Academic Office Manager Requirements

  • Previous experience within an academic office, at Oxford University or equivalent
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills, across the MS Office suite
  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly as part of a small team
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and initiative
