Head of Finance

Reports to: CEO

Purpose of the Job: Responsible for the day-to-day finance function, including managing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Credit Control functions and completion of Management Accounts. It is a truly varied role, working in a fast-paced, fun and diverse environment with good access to the senior team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To drive gross margin and net profit margin improvements
  • To generate insights from financial data to generate implementable actions
  • To provide financial council to agency leaders to assist with forward planning.
  • Experience in underwriting and managing media professional and employee insurance policies, ensuring comprehensive coverage and risk mitigation.
  • Skilled in procurement and pricing, specializing in cost analysis, vendor negotiations, and contract management for optimal savings
  • Ensuring the smooth running and management of the finance team and ensuring deadlines are met across the department
  • Managing monthly payroll including pension
  • Completion of management accounts with commentary
  • Approving weekly supplier BACS runs
  • Running quarterly finance training presentations for members across the group.
  • Providing excellent communications.
  • Assisting team members with client and supplier liaison.
  • Assisting the CEO with management of the operations team

The Person:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • At least 3 years of management experience
  • At least 10 years of general finance experience
  • Advanced analytical and management accounts abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience of Paprika Accounting Software (desired, not essential)
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships at all levels
  • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft applications (particularly Excel)
  • Strong time management and planning skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • An honest and discreet attitude
