Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, customer-service focused Customs Clerk specialising in Perishable Air-Imports to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the customs clearance process for perishable goods entering the country via Air and also Road from the EU.
From small beginnings two years ago, we have grown to the stage where we must provide 24/7/365 coverage in order to keep up with the massive volumes of work that we are lucky to have. We need two experienced Perishable Imports operators to cover the night shift 4-on, 4-off back to back. This is a very rewarding working pattern, giving you a great balance between work and family time and is a long-established practice within our industry.
It is essential that you have the can-do attitude, be available to help-out, especially during our peak-periods and also to cover holidays for your opposite number, when possible. We want adaptable people who can assist in all areas of the business and ETSF Warehouse, along with our Transport Ops and sales team... the right person will be able to grow with us and become invested with the whole team.
Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all Border Force, Port Health and APHA regulations and requirements for perishable imports, especially post-Brexit.
- Liaise closely with Transport Operations to monitor shipments in transit, ensuring timely management of the whole process.
- Effectively conduct and control ETSF entries, ensuring Border Force compliance and facilitating all Import controls.
- Perform entire APHA Applications and Custom Clearance process from Birth to Death.
- Communicate with the Authorities, Airlines, Transport Ops and Customers to keep all stakeholders updated throughout the process.
Experience:
- Proficiency in all Port/Plant Health applications, Customs entries, ETSF protocol and the new Border Procedures for EU Imports.
- Proficiency using all office software, in addition to Imports and Customs-specific software and platforms such as Gov Gateway, Descartes, Sequoia/ASM, IPAFFS, CHEIF, CNS, CCS, CDS, Destin8, Pentant etc.
- Excellent attention to detail, especially during processing... clearly defined practices using worksheets and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to generate leads and drive sales in the perishable imports sector.
- Excellent communication skill, both in chasing shipment status, collaborating with
- Transport and in reporting to Customers.
