Warehouse Supervisor

REPORTS TO:

Warehouse Manager

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Warehouse Supervisor is vital in the end to end process of the warehouse function. The supervisor leads by example and ensures PQVC (People/Safety, Quality, Veolcity & Cost) hierarchy of control is adhered to and that the supervisor and their team are customer focused. The supervisor monitors and assumes responsibility for KPI adherence and drives change/improvement within the team to improve safety and process and eliminate waste.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (listed but not exhaustive to):

  • Operate within site safety procedures
  • Drive safety culture and adherence to PQVC (People/Safety, Quality Velocity & Cost), safety first, quality always
  • Ensure KPI's are monitored and RCCA (root cause & corrective actions) are identified and implemented where KPI's are failing to mitigate/prevent future occurrences
  • Identify wastes (8 wastes 7 physical waste) within the process to improve efficiencies, increase throughput and reduce physical waste product
  • Plan workload and outbound trailers in line with customer demands and utilisation of manpower/MHE/resources
  • Support any training requirements within the warehouse team where required to ensure the team is cross functional and flexible
  • Identify and contain any immediate H&S risks and use RCCA to investigate these risks/incidents and prevent/mitigate any potential future re-occurrence
  • Compile dynamic risk assessments to support `non standard` work or lifts
  • Support in the compilation of standard work documents & risk assessments
  • Ensure reports from BLU are ran at the correct time as periodically set out (stock reports, incoming stock reports etc)
  • Drive 6's culture (Sort, Shine, Set, Standardise, Sustain, Safety), a place for everything and everything in its place
  • Support in recruitment of personnel when required
  • Work closely with the various project admin teams, expeditors, customs teams (not an exhaustive list) to ensure communications are timely and precise and that the customer requirements are being satisfied
  • Work alongside warehouse operators to ensure that customer requirements are being satisfied
  • Compiling outbound load plans
  • General administrative duties
  • Act as deputy for the Warehouse Manager as and when required

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATRIBUTES:

The job holder will need to be able demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to coach, develop and train their team
  • People management skills including the ability to delegate
  • ILM level 2 minimum (or similar awarding body to ILM) preferred or equivalent experience in a previous role
  • Dangerous goods (ADR) training/current certificate preferred
  • Familiar with manual handling best practice
  • Current forklift license would be advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to plan daily work schedules for both yourself and the team in order to maximise efficiency
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written) and confident to communicate with both multi-functional internal personnel within the business and also directly with the customer and other external entities such as haulage companies
  • Good IT skills and familiar with the Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience of using MRP systems
  • Previous experience of using warehouse management systems or MRP systems as a WMS
  • Ability to integrate into an established work environment, team and culture
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety standards/procedures with IOSH/NEBOSH qualification an advantage but not essential
  • Ability to assess process and suggest improvements to improve safety and efficiency both within their own work and other areas of the business
  • Reliable and committed individual with a good work ethic and will work within the company values and actions
  • Adhere to the PQVC (People, Quality, Velocity, Cost) hierarchy of control/culture, safety first, quality always
  • Demonstrate a `can do` positive attitude to tasks
  • Problem solver
  • Previous experience of either leading or being part of a team that has driven process/safety improvements

Note: All of the above tasks, responsibilities skills and experience are typical of the duties the supervisor will be expected to perform but the list is not exhaustive and other tasks, within the post holder's capabilities and where training has been given may be required to support business needs

Your place of work will be the Middlesbrough warehouse, however, to support training and business needs, there may be a requirement for travel on infrequent occasions to other offices.
