Data Protection/IT Litigator 12-month FTC

We are currently recruiting for a well-regarded law firm looking for a Data Protection/IT litigator in either Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge or Manchester (although for the right candidate, this can be negotiable). The team are normally in the office on a 50/50 basis over a two week period, with 1-2 days a week fixed for team engagement.

Your typical tasks will cover:

  • Providing guidance and taking action in disputes stemming from breaches of UK data protection law, encompassing the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Handling responses to personal data breaches and cyber incidents, including advising on containment, rectification, notification, and remediation.
  • Drafting and advising on communications with the relevant regulators.
  • Managing all facets of data subject access requests, including scoping and searches, document review, exemption application, and complaint guidance.
  • Offering guidance and assistance in disputes arising from the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
  • Providing counsel and support in disputes stemming from the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental - Information Regulations.

Additionally, you may be called upon to assist other team members in advising on specialised areas of information and surveillance laws. You'll also support the dispute resolution teams in handling a broader spectrum of reputation management and contentious issues related to litigation, liability, and governance.
