Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Moira. This full-time role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with autism and helping them thrive in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Work closely with teachers to adapt classroom materials and activities to meet the needs of students with autism.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and report on students' progress and behavior.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the well-being and academic progress of students.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working with children with autism, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and associated strategies for support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
- Relevant qualifications in special education or teaching assistance (desirable but not essential).
