Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Smart Education invites you to join our team as a SEN Teaching Assistant at one of our Special Needs schools in the Brierley Hill area.

Position Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 14 to 19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) within a post-16 setting. This is a full-time, long-term position, offering you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these students while gaining valuable experience. With the potential of the role becoming permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated support to children with special educational needs in a specialist school environment.
  • Assist in the cognitive and learning development of students.
  • Conduct assessments to tailor support to individual needs.
  • Offer intimate care as required, ensuring the well-being of the students.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students and colleagues.
  • Adhere to child protection and safeguarding guidelines to create a safe and nurturing environment.

Qualifications and Requirements: To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Previous experience working with children and young adults.
  • A calm, patient, and caring demeanour.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
  • Experience working with Severe Learning Difficulties is essential.
  • Hold a valid child/adult DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Availability to work full-time.
