Position Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 14 to 19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) within a post-16 setting. This is a full-time, long-term position, offering you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these students while gaining valuable experience. With the potential of the role becoming permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support to children with special educational needs in a specialist school environment.
- Assist in the cognitive and learning development of students.
- Conduct assessments to tailor support to individual needs.
- Offer intimate care as required, ensuring the well-being of the students.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students and colleagues.
- Adhere to child protection and safeguarding guidelines to create a safe and nurturing environment.
Qualifications and Requirements: To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
- Previous experience working with children and young adults.
- A calm, patient, and caring demeanour.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
- Experience working with Severe Learning Difficulties is essential.
- Hold a valid child/adult DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
- Availability to work full-time.
